报告摘要：Waste management is a key issue facing many fast-developing countries.The conventional landfill treatment is not sustainable due to high cost, environmental risk (illegal dump sites) and scarcity of land. Urgent solution is needed to transform waste management towards zero-waste. Ideally such transformation could be supported by circular economy via eco-town or industrial symbiosis concepts; and waste-to-wealth by grooming more green entrepreneurs. However, various gaps exist to realize the zero-waste societies. The recyclable materials such as paper and plastics are more readily to be recycled in the modern society. The organic portion of the municipal solid waste (OPMSW), such as the putrescible food waste, is more tedious to be treated. Proper waste segregation at source, efficient waste transfer and further treatments are essential to avoid odor and public health risk.  These steps incur significant cost and often not viable for implementation. This session highlights the need of creating a viable eco-system to convert organic waste to high-value organic fertiliser to support sustainable soil management and high-quality crop production. Extra effort is needed to coordinate the collaboration among the experts and the multi-stakeholders for managing behavior change, enabling policies and feasible waste treatment technology. 

人物介绍：Dr Chew Tin Lee received her PhD from the University of Cambridge, U.K in 2004. She currently serves as the Professor in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia. She is passionate on promoting sustainable organic waste management through 3R campaign. Lee is the Associate Editor for the Journal of Cleaner Production (Elsevier). She severs as the Guest Editor for Clean Technology & Environmental Policy (Springer) since 2015. She is now the key driver and Co-chair for the International Conference of Low Carbon in Asia () since 2015. She actively contributes to low carbon policy in Malaysia (i.e. Iskandar Malaysia region, and Kuala Lumpur City Council). She was the Erasmus Scholar in University Politechnica Madrid (2015) and the Institution of Engineers Malaysia. She serves as Oversea Senior Visiting Scholar at Shanghai Jiao Tong University for two months (April to May) in 2019.
